MH & HPS

So I scored this:
Nanolux Digital Ballast 600w Dimmable HPS MH
for about $100
http://growershouse.com/nanolux-600w-dimmable-ballast?gclid=CNuu05OvxLoCFc6j4AodlAEAbA

Now I need to find a hood and a bulb? (anything else?)

Do I just need a MH bulb, or do I need to get an HPS also and switch over at some point in time? If so when? (I'm thinking no)

Also is there any recomendations out there on MH bulbs. I see not all are created equal as the wave lenghts vary alot. I assume I'm looking
for a 6500K? Is 6000K also acceptable?

$30, 55K Lum 6500k Light

$50, 60K Lum Dual Arc: Is this really worth it?

$53 70K Lum 6500K (comes with white gloves  )

I guess any input on hoods would be good too. My room is 6'x7', I only have some small plants in hydro now (2-2'x4' areas), but plan on cramming everything I can into that space as they grow. Its a basement in the North East so I assume the heat build up will be helpfull as winter sets in(room temps 65-80F now) but I may need to cool more as spring comes around. So I'm thinking it may be worth investing in a 'cool hood'?

For that price you could have gotten a proper LED light like you were planning on building!

I managed to snag a 180w for $73 :shh:

But I have no other input since I haven't used them before. HID might work better for you since you need the heating too, but I'd still be careful about burning your plants.

 LED panel?

I personally like Hortilux super blue. We are running just 4 jalapeño plants under an air cooled magnum XXXL 8 inch. The supplemental heat this time of year is nice. ( air cooled hoods are a nice option to have even if you don't always use it in winter )

As to HPS or MH light cycles are more importan than type.

Best of luck and more importanly enjoy your grow this winter...

Holy dollars bat man...but yeah those things are sweeeet

Craig's list is a great place for reflectors, surprising cheap. Also Denver has Colorado Growers Supply a second hand store full of slightly used equipment. There maybe a supply company like this near you.

Enjoy your grow....

Pick a 600W bulb and a reflector and you're set, add a couple fans for proper ventilation.
Both HPS and MH will work fine with peppers, HPS is a little more efficient while MH seems to produce more compact/bushy plants.
