greenhouse Mini greenhouse for Aussies!

Looks like a pita to access your plants, also with our weather overheating could be a problem.

The big one looks like it might be a litle unstable. You'd hate to come home from work to see your plants all smashed up.

Better for access however overheating occurs in these, i have seen it happen a couple of times. Peeps end up removing the plastic, i think shade cloth could be placed over it though.

So what are my options?

Im going to start using garden beds next grow season, and I found this year I had too many seedlings with lighting requirements, and it wasnt warm enough to put them outside without some sort of protection until mid - late October.

I was only thinking of using the greenhouse for seedlings between September -> plant out time, would overheating still occur where outside temps are like 15C - 20C max?

 I am actually watching "Matrix" on TV and then I find this thread and now I can't resist to imagine Nova in an elliptic tank with a plug in his neck and connected to a few tubes...

I used these jiggers last year when I ran out of room in my wardrobe:

Overheating was never an issue, although the leaves actually touching the plastic went a little manky. Not sure if they got burnt or damp. September is never that hot here MM so if you use that greenhouse I'd imagine you wouldn't have any problems.

How long did you have that up and running for?

They look pretty damn healthy in there for plants outside in the cold, I reckon that's exactly what I need. At least that way I can do several waves of seedlings, unless you've got an underground bunker setup like AlabamaJack, or you can afford $1000 every 3 months in power bills, it's impossible to sustain that many seedlings without them going outside and fending for themselves.

I might invest in that large greenhouse, should be good for about 100 or so seedlings in pretty small pots. I don't mind if they get root bound, once you plant them out they pretty much go nuts anyway.

I can't remember when I first put them out but at first it was just my Jalapenos. They were probably in there for about a month but had to plant them out when I needed the room for the other plants. So I'll have a guess at mid to late August, the Jalapenos were sown in May and planted out in September. Hope it helps.

Cool, a greenhouse for moyboy

I'm using my $40 special from Aldi again this year.

I set it up a few weeks ago when we were getting the constant rain, my pots were getting waterlogged.

Looks remarkably similar to the large one I posted above. What are the dimensions?

Also, do you zip up the door overnight or something?

It's around 1500mm X 1500mm X 1800mm high, the door does zip up. Not currently zipping it up it's still a little warm up here.

I have the same one as lordViykor. Had ti with the plastic cover over last winter - just had to open up the door every morning - killed a couple of plants when I forgot one day!
As it doesn't really get cold here, I have now covered the frame with shadecloth which has been excellent over the summer, and we'll see how the plants go over winter under the shade.
I could still pull the plastic on over the top if things do get a bit cold.
