My crazy explosive ember

For some reason my explosive embers went nuts on side shoots from pretty early.
It's also growing pretty fast I think, Friday I watered it in the morning before I left for 3 days, when I came Monday it was all dried up, and had pretty long roots going out of the bottom on the glass it was in which weren't even there on Friday(I used 2 cups 1 in another). I watered it and it jumped back to perfect health, later that day I moved it to a bigger cup.

Is it ok it's growing this way?

I asked it only because the parent plant, which died a horrible overwatering accident death looked different. At least there was one ripe pepper to take seeds from.
But it was probably because it was my first time growing and I used yellow light, 2 light bulbs one was 50W incandescent light bulb and one warm yellow fluorescent light bulb which probably caused it to get leggy.

I know clear cups are bad outside because the dirt heats, I'm only using it on my desk with white fluorescent, when it goes out it gets a nice pot for itself.
With the clear cups I can tell what's the root status and if its time to move to a bigger container in case they cant find the holes at the bottom.
The over watering accident wasn't my fault!
