N. Cali pepper

Hi I am from Northern Cali and have been thinking of growing the Ghost pepper for a few years and finally got some

Trinidad Scorpion Pepper (Butch T) from Ebay from a guy in FL. started them in Jan and I got some Red Ghost seeds a few months ago.

I have 4 TS, 2 I just potted in 3 gal pots and two are still in 1 LT pots, I am low on soil for a few more weeks.  The Ghost are about 3" tall now and just re-potted 4 of them,

into 5 1/2 pots or 1tl, and 2 into 4" pots.   The TS and Ghost will stay in my small Green house with all my other peppers in the garden. about 40 or so Bell and  Anaheim mostly with a few
Habanero's and others.

The TS are looking good just not flowering yet and the flowers are hard to see and just fall off??  My Soil might be part of the problem , maybe to rich for them as it's
got a bit over 50% compost or like most I watering to much LOL Yes I have been reading. :) The only thing that has got me is one Habanero this winter flowered at
30 days old and set 5 peppers then after that hasn't set any more, I just re-potted it out side in a 100 Gal Felt pot with three Squash seedlings,  I am doing a lot of
Companion planting this year.

I hope to over winter at lest one of the TS and G peppers so keeping them in the GH and would like to keep them in 3 to 6 gl pots, or take cuttings and put the cutting under lights in the winter.

So my big Q should I feed the peppers with PK nuts, or just give them more time to grow and flower?

:welcome:  from sunny South Florida!  :woohoo:

And if I may impart a word of caution. eBay is generally not a good place to purchase superhot seeds. There's more than a few unscrupulous folks on there, and I as well as quite a few others got duped on there before we got turned onto the legit seed vendors, several of whom are long-standing (and good-standing) members of this site :)

As for the flowers falling off, it's normal for them to fall off, especially when the plant is young. Just give 'em the proper nutrition & water, and they should be fine.

Yeah I know Ebay isn't the best, and all I can do is hope I bought from Honest people. They at lest look like  Capsicum C peppers :)  I do plan on buying the GT peppers latter on and it wont be from Ebay lol

Thanks, I know it's really early in the year so I will keep watching and caring for them and get some pics of the ones I have now.

I hate when this happens, yes it's happened before,

I was out re-potting a TSBT and was in and out of my garden a few times getting the soil and pot and doing other things when I was coming back out of the Garden and about a foot away was a 2 foot Ratter, the rattles looked to have been ran over or something so this time I didn't hear a thing, I had to have stepped a few times less then a foot from it.  I have deer netting around the garden and rattlers get caught in it, I had to kill a 4 footer last year. :(  Most years I take hundreds of Rattler pics but hate them in my garden or my yard as I have kids.   Just a word of warning if you use deer netting, snakes can get caught in it.

On the other note I got the TSBT re-potted in a felt pot, so hope it will now take off!!

Nice to see another northern Cali grower around these parts! What city are you staying in? You should consider fox farms ocean forest. It's pricey but a solid soil to go with. Welcome!

I am up I -5 about 200 mil north, before the lake ;)

I make my own soil, pretty much 50% Organic soil and 50% compost, with a few other things added, Like Rice hulls and Coco bark.  I will be making Teas and trying my best to buy no store bought Nuts but I do have some that I was given I use if need be.  I am keep the Hot peppers in my little Green house hopping they wont get crossed with the lower heat or sweet peppers.

My Hot Pepper seeds are from Ebay,

Trinidad Scorpion Pepper Butch T Seeds are from lwrfla1 Ocala, Florida

And

Bhut Jolokia A.K.A Ghost Pepper fisionpower Phil Campbell, Alabama,

Any one know them good or bad?

I don't have PB to upload any pics to but they look ok to me so far.

Thank you, PIC 1

That is one thing I already learned I was doing wrong :)  the three big pots I just transplanted so there still wet from that, now a cold front came in and it was down in the 40's last night 70's day so they wont dry out as fast as I hoped..  One thing about the felt pots they will dry out faster when it gets hotter!! :)  .

+1 on that... I'd only add that they'll drop flowers if the temperatures are too cold or too hot as well. Just give 'em the best growing conditions you can, and they'll do the rest themselves.
