Nepenthes clipeata's Peltate Leaves

I posted this thread on a few of the Carnivorous Plant forums today, but thought I'd also share it here as well.

A couple pics from N. clipeata Clone 3. This species is interesting because of it's exaggerated, almost mid-leaf tendril insertion points.

From above, the dimpled insertion points for the tendril under the leaf are clearly visible.

Meanwhile, on the underside of the leaf, the tendril attaches a fair distance in from the outer leaf margin.

Alaskan, someone did comment on another forum about that too. I just told him that a lil Nep Porn was good for enlivening the CP forums.;)

This clone was grown in tissue culture by Andreas Wistuba from Germany.

Siling Labuyo, this plant is known to be male. Nepenthes are dioescious, meaning that plants are either male or female.

Unfortunately this plant is probably extinct in the wild now. It grew in Borneo in a small area, but fires and poachers have most likely removed it totally from it's native habitat.

So now it only grows in captivity, and a female clone is what growers are hoping to come around for this lonely male plant.
