New life for ICU chile

Ya might recall that chile plant sis gave me mostly dead..and while it didnt survive, it's seeds are now produding new life. :)

Looky what I got today after sitting for nearly a month:

At least two shoots so far..looks like perhaps a 3rd too.

Hope it grows well, it was pretty tough to have like 20 pods on it even as a 4" plant and mostly dead. Ha, a stressed plant for sure.

Yep. My fam doesn't eat hot stuff...she'd gotten it as a gift ornamental plant...'natch she killed it. My folks have killed chives, peppers, and a cactus..utterly hopeless eh?

When I got it, some pods weren't dry yet so got a decent idea.

They are thin-walled and have a nice warmth to them but not a lot of flavor. They'd make a nice powder or sambal tho IMO.
 
Eeeek...looks like more came up..total of 5 shoots now.

They are a very compact and big producer based on the dead plant the seeds come from, also my only Asian chile being grown...Kewl. :)

I'd not planned on them ALL bloody germinating...but they did... yikes!

I'll be up to my neck in those things in no time....:eek:

Haha. If I plant 4 seeds I get 1 sprout. If I plant 12 seeds I get 12 sprouts! looks like you'll have to separate them soon if you want to keep them all.
 
Here's update..

I've sorted which ones are the strong out of the 9 (!) that came up. Now under a 30W CFL and close to leaving the nest. :)

Yes, that is one more sprout that showed up today in the background...yikes.
