New Member; new grower

Hi all,

I'm growing an Apache in a 7" pot, and it's absolutely top-heavy with chilis. They are all green at present, with one exception, which has turned red. The longest is about 1.5" long, and the red one is less than 0.5". How do I know when they've reached their full size? When is the best time to harvest them? How long can they stay on the plant before they deteriorate? And what's the best way to store/use them?
As you see, I'm an absolute beginner. I tried one plant last year in my greenhouse, but it didn't do anything. This year I've grown it in the garden,on a table, in a pot.
I live in York, England.

Welcome Aboard!!

My method of testing whether or not a pepper is ready to be picked, is to give it a slight twist. If it's ready, it will normally drop off of the plant without any resistance.
