New Pepper Powder

SadisticPeppers

eXtreme Business
As I mentioned yesterday in another thread, I got my dehydrator, and put in 3/4 of a pound of Butch T's, and 1/4 of a pound of Yellow Datil's, all purchased from PepperRich

I sliced them in half, and placed them open side up on the racks of the dehydrator like so:

After around 22 hours worth of drying, I ended up with exactly 3 ounces on the nose worth of dried peppers. I placed them in my handy-dandy Ninja Blender, and with 1/2 teaspoon of salt added, got this:

I shall call this powder The Sands Of Tartarus, after the level of Hades where all the wicked & damned souls & previous gods & immortals deemed offensive to the Olympian Gods would spend an eternity in torment. It's a fitting name as well, since just the dust that got kicked up from opening up my Ninja blender was more than enough to induce a coughing fit, and cause my lips & the back of my throat to burn.

Granted, the amount looks kinda small, but it's because I've put it in a huge container, and I've done so on purpose. Reason being, since this was such a ravishing success, I'll be drying the rest of the peppers I've purchased from Baker's Peppers, which comprise 4 more full containers of this same size) and adding them to this powder, along with the concurrent amount of sea salt I initially added to this batch. Once I'm done and have this weighed, I'll be only too happy to put it up for sale :)

And the thing is, even with two sets of gloves on, I cut up the remaining peppers I had, the ones I had purchased from Baker's Peppers not too long ago, and the tips of my fingers feel like they're on fire! All told, they turned out to be three pounds on the dot, and I now have them dehydrating. I'll add them to the powder, and then weigh all of it. Once I have a good idea of the weight, I can start selling it. And just for advice's sake, since you sell them, and thus have more experience by default then I do, how much do you sell per individual order? I'm not saying I wanna cut in on your market per se, but I'd like to sell this to recoup some of my costs in buying all these peppers :)

Edit: Oh wait, duh, just had to go to your site lol! I figured it all out :)

My first powder batch was Datils mixed with Scotch Bonnets... very good mix. Then Bakers Super Hots mix and lastly was the pure smoked Datils.

They are super useful for cooking if you have some different flavors and heat levels. I put too much Supermix on my Broccoli tonight and was hurtin'.

You may want to get a some sanding dust masks if you are planning on making a lot of powders.

Got the masks, and they made all the difference yesterday evening! The 3 pounds of peppers I put in the dehydrator dried successfully, and ended up getting a total of 8 ounces of pepper powder, seeds and all :) I didn't have time to take pictures, since I had to get to a friend's b-day party, but this powder is significantly more red than my test powder, and was also pretty darn hot to boot.

So now I have 11 ounces total of powder, which is awesome. I'll be packaging it this weekend, and once that's done, I'll be selling it to any interested parties :)

I get a test batch right? :tear:
