Hello Northwest Chileheads!!!!!!!

Ann (salsalady) and I are starting plans for the 3rd annual Northwest Chilefest. We want to get a jump start on plans so all wrinkles can get ironed out sooner rather then later. Right now we are just putting this out there to see how many might be interested. We will be booking reservations in a few weeks.

We are looking at a campground in Ravensdale, Washington. Called Kanaskat-Palmer State Park. If we do find something better we will change it. So this is going to be the weekend of September 7-9 which is the weekend after Labor Day.

It'll be like years before LOTS of HEAT and FUN!!! For those who have kids or significant others who aren't into the hot stuff there will be plenty of non spicy foods. Just like before everyone is encouraged to bring a dish as well as anything you may want to test out with the rest of us chileheads (peppers, sauces, salsas, etc.)

This is just the start of plans. More information and details to come.... keep an eye out!

FYI-just to clarify-the Northwest includes... All of Washingtonstate, Oregon state, British Columbia, the Yukon, Alaska -Most of California, NM, AZ, UT, CO, WY,MT, all of ID, Alberta, and parts of HI -any person temporarily in any of the afore-mentioned areas for purpose of business or pleasure -anyone who used to live in the afore-mentioned areas -anyone who has traveled in the afore-mentioned areas -anyone who has a relative living in, or who used to live in the aforementioned areas -anyone who would like to travel to or live in in the aforementioned areas......

If anyone has any input on any of this let us know. Our ears are open :)

:woohoo: LET'S GET THE PARTY STARTED!!!!! :woohoo:

SO using the same campground as we did this yr is not the plan anymore? I rather liked it being a parent and feeling safe with the kids roaming free with the lifegaurds, security and all.

From the sounds of what SL has heard thus far Vasa Park (where we were last year) would be to small. Its looking like we already have more interest in camping then last year. If that makes sense. The site we are looking at looks family friendly. In the next two weeks I am personally going to take a drive there and check it out.

Well if it is because of a projected growth in turn out / campers for it we got to do what we got to do. Let us know what you think of this new site for it and maybe take a few pics to spike our interest.

I'm in. My family has had several outings at Kanaskat-Palmer Sate Park and it was great. It is also on a very scenic part of the Green River.

Onefowl~ I will give my opinion and I can take some pictures and will post them. As Chileaddict has said above his family has been there and enjoys it. :)

Chileaddict~ So stoked you'll be there! :woohoo: Its going to be so much fun :D

If anyone knows of people that would be interested in our get together feel free to invite them. The more the merrier! Or the drunker whichever!!!!!

Thanks for getting this started, Megan.

Last year, we got things started in July and all the state camp grounds were full. The Vasa park was nice for the kids as 1F1 said. They only have ~10 spaces and a couple of those looked to be set up for full timers. Just doing a quick head-count of those we know who might be camping, we already will need 8-10 campsites, and that's not counting several of the newer Seattle people who we haven't talked to yet.

The K-P park also had day-use kitchen shelters, if we think we want one. I don't really think it's needed as we'll have electricity and water at our sites, but it's up for discussion.

For now, let's get a head count of those who think they will be camping and what days, so when the dates open up, we can get the reservations.

I'll start-
Salsafamily will be camping Friday and Saturday in a tent trailer. power/water only, no full hook up.

We have 2 tents available for people to use. One large one that can sleep 6 adults and a smaller one that can sleep 3 adults. Let me know if anyone want's to put dibs on them.

No problem Ann :)

HH81 Family- Friday & Saturday in a motorhome.

If your staying let us know if you'll be tenting it or motorhome so we make sure we can have hookups if you want/need them.

(Am I already way too excited about this?) :D

SL, 81BH,...
Slackers, What's up with waiting until the very last moment? A little notice for 2013 please?
We'll have to scramble, but we'll be there.

edit: forgot what I was going to edit

Cry me a river build me a bridge and get the f%@# over it... we do what we can.
Geez I guess somebody is a little cranky after his weekend of abstinence from THP porn.

Just razzing you Scov. :) you guys better be there!!!!

Of course I will be there! (I kinda started it all 3 years ago...)

I am having a hard time seeing the weather forecast though, no one wants to go out on a limb..........

I'm guaranteeing HEAT!

Megan, if you get out to the park, make note of which campsites would be good for a group. Looking at the layout, maybe we can get a few around a corner. Like 24-31 or 34-40 or 22,23,43-46.

Cilleaddict, will you be camping or just day-tripping?

Day-tripping. It takes me 10 minutes to get there. Camping would be more fun though.
