Ok to mail to ?

So, what is the deal with mailing seeds in and out of the US?

I posted a trade list and a member from the bahamas wants some seed. Is it ok to send them US mail? I don't know anything about it and want to find out what is ok to do and what's not.

So, maybe we can start a sticky of what's acceptable?

Where can we send (or not send) seeds to?

Is it ok to have them mailed to you from outside the lower 48?
What is or is not acceptable?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Hey mate, from my experience it is all up to the lovely people (read varmits) that work with the countries customs that you wish to send to.

I have recieved seeds from all over the world but have also had seeds stolen from me by customs. Your seeds will leave the country just fine but they may not be received at the other end depending on what laws they have there in regard to the importation of seeds or any organic matter.

Heres a tip- do NOT send seeds overseas in a padded envelope, always use a flat one with minimal packing material.

I usually send most seeds in a Christmas card lined with bubble wrap and have sent hundreds of card with no problems. Australia is the worst for customs since almost anything can become invasive.

I would love the Bonda ma Jaque or one of the 7-pots to become invasive, i would truly love that!

Thread moved. This is not an ad. Folks, the Classified Ads section is for buying/selling/trading.
