OneHighJedi's 2019 Grow Log

Starting to germinate seeds I received from another member of the forums today. Got some reaper, bhut, 7 pot, and brazillian starfish.

Big shout-out to Saiias for em'. I will definitely try to keep the log updated and track all the major progressions.

Let's get this season started!

After a 8 days of putting the seedlings in paper towels, a few of them sprouted a tap root -

@Masher - I got your package. I'll be posting another update once they start to develop.

Any tips on how to get a whole lot of growing medium, for cheap? I know I can make a homemade mix and it'll be a lot less than miracle grow, I just don't know the ingredients.

Looks like a great start.....that soil looks way to wet for seeds / seedlings.

Very high chance the seeds will rot in that wet of a medium.

I use rockwool then transplant into Foxfarm ocean forest mix or Foxfarm happy frog mix, I would not start them out in miracle grow soil if possible but that's my personal preference.

Here locally FF is about $15 a bag. Enough for 100+ cups like you are using.

I'm soaking my rockwool today and will have seeds in humidity dome tonight.

Good luck and happy growing.

Ok. I have the cups arranged in a big basin that I put it in front of an electric heater, in hopes of drying the soil out a bit. Will post back with updates.

Finally got some sprouts from the seeds sent over by Sai   There's two cups that don't have any visible action, but the roots are still alive and it is just a matter of time.

Masher, I'll be getting to your seeds, today. Been busy and have been putting off the most important part - starting!

ps - took the picture right after coming home. All still water has been dumped.

I buy a 1/2 yard of soil from our local rock and sand shop.

This yr I will amend it with mushroom steer and chicken compost and some bone meal.

Looking good jedi, cant stress enough though about over watering.

That soil is way to wet. They will have edema and other issues very soon if you don't get that regulated.

You can grow them all or just a few, totally up to you.

Happy growing looks like you got the bug for sure.

Water is from the rain that passed through overnight and during the day. Hasn't been wet again, so they're doing pretty good.

I plan on growing them all lol. I really want to try and grow as many hot peppers as i can, this year

Yup. Plan to keep them in the cup for another month or two, then transfer them over to 5-gallon buckets.

But with the other 13 different strains I plan to grow from @Masher, I'm gonna need at least 30 buckets and a ton of soil..

Not sure how I'm gonna pull that one off as yet
Sounds like a good plan, Jedi!

Let us see, 150 gallons of dirt is about 23 cubic feet, yes?
That is almost a yard. Lots of soil!

i know its already been harped on a little, but are there any drainage holes in those cups?

And im having the same problem as you, so much soil to purchase.  I might just end up starting more than i can plant and giving them away to friends and family when they harden off.

Looks great so far and good luck with the grow!
