Should Grounds for Divorce be hotter or make a separate sauce?

Good morning everyone. As most of you know, my goal for the products offered by Red Hawk Premium Peppers was to have spicy goodies for everyone. From the novice fire-eater to the hardcore chilehead.

One of our most popular products to date is the 'Grounds for Divorce' hot garlic sauce.

After several folks wrote to me about it, I'm considering bumping up the heat level on it a bit. My question to you all is, should I bump up the heat of the sauce itself or make a hotter version (let's say GFD 2.0, GFD XXX, GFD Extreme, etc.) available separately?

I value all of your opinions, so please let me know what you think!

well, since original is one of your best sellers, why not make a separate one that is hotter, now you will have a product to sell to the people that like it the way it is, and with the new sauce you will have one for the people that love the original but might like a bit more kick, so win win situation! where if you stop making the original sauce you may loose customers that dont like it quite as hot as the new product will be. if one does not do as well as the other you can always discontinue the less productive sauce

i would make a nother version, and then you lose none of your sales from the origanal, and gain sales with the hotter version

Haven't tried it yet, but I agree with spongey and sicman. If you are already selling it well, then offer up a hotter version to please the chiliheads. Like the old saying goes: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!".

If people requested it hotter I say go for it, you're still in the early stages, so it's not like New Coke. However if most like the heat, yeah, make two. Widowmaker. ;)

I think going with a separate sauce is the best idea. If the sales drop on the original, you can decide if it is not worth making it anymore. It really comes down to profits. Making a new product all together is a risk. I mean what are you going to do, make another sauce and stop the GFD. Then if people don't like it as much flip flop back to the original. It is definitely the best idea to make a second GFD. GFD "She wants the house" lol Good luck RED :hell: I'd also like to add that if you are going to go hotter, make it sing!

This version may need to wait until next season anyway since most of my varieties in the freezers are spoken for. Who knows, maybe I'll come up with something for a limited release.

I know I liked it as is. Just cracked the bottle I got the other night and TORE UP some Apple smoked pork loin with GFD on it. WINNER!

Haven't had a chance to crack open my bottle yet, but I should be getting to is pretty soon. I would say if you don't have a good med/mild sauce in your offerings already leave it as is, but if you do then increase the pain.

Although I enjoy SuperHot sauces and the heat, I use good flavored med / hot sauces more often simply because some sauces just can't be used on everything and still "compliment" the food.

Example I made a batch of crepes for breakfast yesterday and tried just a guy's hot orange and it was just too hot, however the apple med heat sauce was a perfect balance of heat AND flavor and worked great with a dab of powdered sugar. However on last nights wings, I didn't think the orange was hot enough and hot to add some concentrate to it so I could get a good sweat going.
