Paper Lantern?

Mostly looking for closure on this pepper ID. I'm about 80% certain it's a Paper Lantern from comments last year; it was sold to me as a Trinidad Scorpion last year, definitely not the case... not terribly impressed with the flavor, but has a good amount of heat. Pods ripen to red, typical green-yellow tinged chinense flowers. I have the plant overwintering now for no reason in particular. It was nice to look at, at least.

Ripe pods (they're the red ones in the second photo, mixed in with the Limon, Datils, Fatalii, and White Habs):

The shape looks a little different from a hot lantern, maybe it's the "red datil?"

Maybe... I don't know how the red Datil is supposed to taste, but it didn't remind me of my Datils very much. Typical Hab-ish sort of flavor, though I do remember them being rather aromatic. I didn't think to save the seeds to see if it was some sort of cross, but I have the plant overwintered so maybe I'll do that with one of my winter pods...

Looks like a productive plant.

Very nice.

Sorry I am no help......

It was very productive, and early for a chinense.

Hmm, so the seller just got back to me (I waited until a year after the fact to contact them- oops), says that they do bag the plants but that it might have been an accidental Ecuadorian Devil's Breath/Trinidad Scorpion cross. Certainly an interesting cross if this is true... guess I'll need to make sure the plant doesn't die on me now to test.

Would explain the strong aroma and heat...

(then again, who knows, it's an ebay seller I've never dealt with before)

I almost want to believe it. I hardly ever used them because of how pungent they were (I really don't like chinense smells for the most part, it was like a kick in the face... or I guess, a whiff of devil's breath, as the case might be). Well, I shouldn't need to wait too long, I have a couple pods coming along...
