Pepper ID's

A coworker of mine scored some plants at a local nursery. The first one was labeled only as "Native Thai". The pods are about as hot as a cayenne, typical Thai flavor, 2-2.5 inches long. They appear to ripen from green - yellow - orange - red.

The next one is a serious score! $22 for this plants loaded with about 20 ripe pods. They sold it as a ghost pepper, but I honestly am thinking Dorset Naga or possibly Naga Morich due to the very smooth skin. I haven't tasted one yet so I cannot comment on the taste.

What say you??

the one on top one looks just like "PURIRA"

and im almost sure that thats what it is i dont think its a thai species but Purira comes from S. America

its an annum species but dont let that fool you its very hot!!

thanks yuor friend Joe

He says it is definitely hot and similar to the red bhut I brought him a couple of weeks ago. He is a recent convert to the Church Of Pepper though. I guess I will be waiting until later in the year and see if they get the bhut pimples or not.

Doesn't look like the Purira I've grown but I have seen Pirira named as either Long,Fat or thin.
There might be different ones.

Mine were all pods that were fatter at the bottom/tapered to a sharp or rounded point and the fat ones were 2-3 times fatter than the regular ones.
I never grew the long version,as far as what my seed packs label says.

I see Purira listed as both an Annuum or a Frutescens on some data bases.
