chiliheads Pepper People are the Best

I got a really nice assortment from @Marturo yesterday as a gift. This really brightened my day, I've been juggling a lot of stuff lately, not all of it easy, and this gesture is very appreciated! Thank you Marturo! You'll have something coming your way soon! 🙂

Your very welcome @NJChilehead. 😊
I'm happy we could send some seeds to you in such a tasty way.

Looks like you’re going to have quite the seed bank to draw from for next season. For me it seems like I’m going to be growing a bunch of different types of bonnets 🤤. I didn’t grow any this year so am looking forward to next season.

@NJChilehead You really made our Weekend. 😊
What a nice way to send seeds, we get to try them first.
Why didn't I think of that LOL.

That's a lotta love in one box.

Just when I think I’m out…..they pull me back in 😂. The neighbor I gave a bunch of ghosts and reapers to (mainly just to get rid of some) gave me a big bag of jalapeños his friend gave him, along with some “very hot “ chili oil he made with pods I gave him. Guess I’ll be making a simple jalapeño pickle soon. Any recipes ?.

I love this pickle recipe. If you have room in tge fridge, do a cold pack, no boil8ng water bath process.

PPATB!
I was all set in thinking about doing a sterilization because my downstairs fridge conked out 2 months ago, but then I realized that it’s cold enough outside here to be refrigeration, but not cold enough to freeze overnight for at least a few weeks.

You're very welcome @Marturo ! I hope that you and Mrs. Marturo enjoy this little fresh selection as well as the seeds for next year. As I had mentioned upthread, I really appreciated your gift package earlier last week. It made my week while I was in the midst of a really crappy one.

Everything that you sent over was delicious! I wanted to take a little time to play and process and then get back to you about them.

Sugar Rush Stripey-everything that you said about it was true. It tastes at least as good as SRP, a little less hot and a little more fruity and sweet. I used these fresh in salads and roasted them in a little oil and salt to include over potatoes. Delicious, and possibly the best tasting baccatum I've tried.

Brazilian Starfish-same as above, lovely fruity and sweet. I ate some of these fresh as well, but I also made some poppers with them alongside some Zapotec Jalapenos and Rocotos. They offered at least as much flavor as the others as poppers, plus more sweetness, and I see what you were saying about the appeal of them. I appreciate you sending these because I was on the fence about growing them, but now that I've tasted them I know what to expect.

Datil-it's been well over a decade since I had a true Datil. This was such a nice reminder about how much I enjoy them. I reviewed Datils on GardenWeb back in 2005 and wrote: "one of the most underestimated chinenses in my opinion. Wonderful, fruity flavor with smoky undertones and high heat on a very tall (>3), upright and prolific plant. Standard season length for a chinense. Another chinense that is easy to become a favorite. Pendant fruit matures to orange." I pickled these and my wife and I sat and had some fun with them over pizza.

Aji Charapita-this was a cool treat. I don't know if I'll ever grow these, not because the flavor isn't awesome (it is) but the thought of picking all of those tiny peppers would make me crazy. I used these as you recommended, squeezed directly in food. I should have made Aji Charapita vinegar with it but they were gone too fast!

Lesya-I really like this as a possible addition to my paprika grow out in the coming years (if not 2026 then likely the following year). I sampled a little bit of it fresh and it was nice and sweet, and I dehydrated the rest of the fruit and am going to mix it with my Jeromin to make some paprika and see how it goes. Much nicer than a bell!

Again, thank you so much for these!

The generosity of the people here is amazing! @hadanero sent me a little care package with some seeds, and also a few Honey Badger Rocotos to sample! They are definitely as he describes, sweet and tastes a little like a pear, with the underlying yellow Rocoto flavor. Really nice! Thank you Hadanero!

Dayamn! I haven't stumbled into this thread in a long time! You guys certainly kept busy without me! 😉

I'd like to single out one Mr. NJChilehead and thank him profusely for this haul of beautiful red and yellow Rocoto pods (which he has yet to identify for me, but my guess tends toward an Ecuadorian Red and perhaps Aji Oro? ).

I'm beholden to the man and can now process another batch of my insane good Chokecherry/Rocoto jelly!

Mark, you're first on the shipping list!
