PepperLover.com Review Series - Peach Fatalii

This thread will be used to house the first round of reviews for Judy at PepperLover.com.  Here is a teaser photo of all the pods:

Bottom (left to right): Black Naga, Caramel Lava, Peach Fatalii

And here is the first review:

Evergreen 7 Pot (From PepperLover.com):

This was a very interesting pepper.  It had hardly any "Chinense" taste to it with actually a slight hint of bell pepper flavor, coupled with a slight sweetness.  The flavor was pretty pleasant despite being totally different.  The heat was a mid level burn for the superhot spectrum.

My Rating:
Heat: 6
Flavor: 8

I hope you all enjoy.  I will be posting new reviews daily (unless one of the peppers kills me ;)), so keep checking back!

What a great selection to review.

The Evergreen 7-pot was a nice big pepper and sounds like a very interesting one! Great review!

How does it compare to the Green Scorpion?

Nigel, I haven't tried the green scorpion yet, so I can't make a comparison.  But yeah, this was a very unique pod with a unique and quite pleasant flavor.

Brian, I have some mustard scorpions on a couple of plants. I think they stay green a long time and may or may not be the same as the green scorpion. Mine are nowhere near ripe yet - I think! Actually, how would I know    ;)

I`ll send you a few once they look a bit more ripe.

Nigel, I would be honored to try one!

Caramel 7 Pot Lava:

This was one of the best tasting peppers I've tried.  It was so sweet and fruity!  No bitterness and only slightly floral.  It was truly a joy to eat.  The heat, while pretty hot, was not what I expected from it.  It didn't get near as hot as I had prepared myself for.

This is not a stable variety yet.  Judy is still working on getting it stable.  The plants are compact and quite prolific producers.  Once this stabalizes, I would consider this a no brainer to grow.

My rating:
Heat: 8
Flavor: 10

Glad to hear the flavour is so good. I saw the amount of placenta around the walls and thought - uh-oh.

Nice review, as usual! Judy certainly has some cool new varieties.

Red 7 Pot Lava Pod Test:

This was the worst burn I've ever had from a pepper.  Absolutely brutal!  Taste was just okay, but that could due to the intense heat building up so quickly, thus not allowing me to get a feel for the flavor.  If you guys ever wanted to see me squirm and writhe in pain, this is the video for you!

My rating:
Heat: 10+
Flavor: 7

Would you like some oil with that placenta? Yikes!

You obviously suffered, but you are so matter of fact about it. Well played!!!

Yellow 7 Pot Primo

This was an absolutely fantastic tasting pepper.  The heat was pretty intense for a yellow variety as well.

My rating:
Heat - 8
Flavor - 10

Black Naga

This was another good overall pepper. High heat, and high flavor.

My rating:
Heat - 8
Flavor - 8

I liked the yellow primo a lot. Have you tried the orange primo? I liked it more for both flavour AND extra heat.

Black Nagas were decent, but I like the Dorset Nagas more. I usually prefer the red version of the majority of peppers to the yellow or chocolate ones. Probably the only one where that isn`t the case is Habaneros, where I prefer the Jamaican chocolates.

Great reviews, Brian. Really excellent.

my fave superhot so far is the blacknaga nailed that reveiw compmoder its not crazy heat but it there i have 3 plants this year they bloom droped quite a bit but after they set that first pod they almost set every flower and get nice and full of pods..

Peach Fatalii:

This was as I expected it to be.  A great tasting pepper with habanero heat.  This is only in it's second generation of growing, so there are still quite a few generations ahead to get it stable.  But when it is, this will be a fantastic pepper to grow.  The plants are very prolific and don't need a long growing season.

My rating:
Heat: 4
Taste: 9

Nice reviews again and again!!!

I love all Fataliis, but I only have red and yellow ones growing. Not tried this one, so very cool!

Thanks Nigel!  Once Judy gets this one stable, I will be definitely growing it!  Such a wonderful pepper, and it's nice sometimes to grow some that don't melt your face off ;)
