Pequin Chiapas - Mexico - SASBE Offer - Dried Pod - OFFER CLOSED

I'm giving away a dried pod to the first 5 posters. Plenty of seed is in a pod so you'll be set.I was given this variety last year. It's from Mexico. The pods are nice because they are juicy/plump and actually easily air dry. Nice productive plants.

I don't mean to be picky, but I really want to give a good amount of members a chance to win these offers. If you have won two or more of my previous offers in the last months, I'd really appreciate it if you could let another member get a shot this time. :) Just trying to be fair.

Rules for this offer are:

First 10 members to post here win the offer. PM me after for my mailing address. Rules are below:

- Must be a U.S. member to participate

- You must post on this thread to reserve your place for tracking reasons

- Send me a self-addressed stamped bubble envelope

- Include $0.64 loose return postage - NO PRE-PAID METERED POSTAGE PLEASE - this is not legal when being sent on a different day/different place. No postage - no envelope sent.

- Include ziplock baggie or coin envelope pre-labeled with variety name on it so I can just put the dried pod in.

- Drop note reminding me what offer you're responding to. Note must include your THP user name.

It was not that I was not interested it was I had just previously took you up on other offers. Others may have done the same and not replied for it following your rules set for this offer. You sent me one anyways with my purple bhut seed so a big thank you. What wonderful bam in your face heat with flavor still with the dried pod. I am thinking perfect in a cup of noodles. Like the size of this pequin pod, is this typical on size? About double my biggest pequin strains pods I have now. I know you said closed but anyone who has not got other offers from you recently should grab this one up if they can.

I understand Onefowl1. Glad you liked it. :) No worries, I've spread this one around to a LOT of people who won my SASBEs. At least 20 people probably as a bonus so many can experiment with it. Each pod has plenty of seeds too so anyone feel free to share some with others if you desire.

Yes, these pods are extremely uniform size wise. Nice short compact plant. It's unique.

I'm the kind of guy who likes his SASBE offers to be open and done quickly. I'm too impatient. lol.

Hey cmp i`ll take em if you still have room.Let me know and sase is in route. Rich I like the nukes but the family likes lesser types! lol

Chris,
It's a shame these days that people only want superhots or rare stuff in general.
People don't seem to use different peppers for their unique burst of flavor or heat that different peppers or blends can give you.
That short burst of heat from a Frutescens. The smokey taste of a chile Negro mixed with a cascabel and ancho for a mole.
Superhots, especially 7 Pots are my favorites but mixing them with other peppers / flavors adds to my mops and rubs flavors that 1 pepper alone couldn't do.
I think people are too lazy to pick a gazillion small pods or something.
Chiltepins,Tepins,Petines and Pequins all have a place in my garden and sauce or rub recipes.
It's a shame, people are missing out by not taking you up on these seeds if they never tried growing them before.
Also,I think the old wives tale about that they are hard to germinate adds to the lack of interest.
For me Tepins etc. are the same as any other seed to grow in general.
Don't need a bird to poop them etc. like some people think.
No magic potient is needed as a pre treatment to break a dormancey or whatever.

I'm growing the Chiltepin Amarillo seeds I got from you.
Very nice plant.Even with my mite problem.
Tons of pods forming and ripening now.
Good flavor with a modest heat.
VERY productive.
Since the mites are gone(I hope),it's growing into a monster.

Thanks for all the seeds we have traded and that I have gotten from you over the years.
I for 1 appreciate that you are also dedicated to spreading the heat to the pepper impared.

I was gonna say that I'd be interested, but I see that it is closed due to lack of interest!? People are nuts for not wanting to expand on their collection of sampled varieties, or new seeds to grow. I would totally be interested if you're up for it, Chris! I always like new types.

Hendrix, lucky you. I have been dropping these in envelopes like mad. I have two left. I'll hold on to one for you as I recall you won one of my other SASBE offers. Sound good?

Smokemaster, I agree 100% with you. Bird peppers definitely have their place in culinary dishes. I enjoy them very much and always have.

Yes, I recently won the Purple UFO offer, as well. Thanks for the hookup on that one, can't wait to sample this one. As I am already overwhelmed with my growing list for next year, these ones won't necessarily be on it, but I will definitely grow these puppies in 2013 if not this coming spring!

On a final note, to add my 2 cents, such as they are, I love any small bird peppers for cooking. I grind up dried Thai bird peppers for a spicy paprika that goes great on many dishes, especially bean/rice dishes. I also like using dried Piquins for spicing up pasta dishes, they add such a good burn without being overwhelming, and don't add a ton of flavor.

Take care,
-Karl
