PH and Fertilizing question

I wanted to find out what the best PH level is for hot pepper plants. I tested the soil around my in ground plants and potted plants today. I found that the PH was in the range of 5 - 6 which is where I think they should be but I wanted to make sure. Also what fertilizer should be used when plants are starting to get blossoms? Should a tomato fert or bloom booster fert be used?

Thanks!

I have honestly never checked the ph of my potted peppers, but I keep the few I have growing hydro at around 6.5.

On the subject of fertilizer, I quit feeding mine anything but some magnesium and calcium every 3 weeks and alot of my problems went away with flower drop and such. My hydro plants get a really reduced rate of recommended nutes(about a 1/4 of recommended amount) and they are thriving also.

I would try some worm castings by Terracycle. I like them because they are natural and not too harsh NPK wise.

Indoors I run between 5.5 and 5.8 PH
Outdoors I run between 6 and 6.8 PH
With great success.

I hope that helped ??

hydro i keep it at 6.0 but its ok from 5.5 to 6.5 soil is higher my man chilliman got you set on the right path... :)

One more thing I noticed I wanted to ask about.
About 2 weeks ago my plants started forming blossoms for the first time. I've noticed some of them are setting fruit and some just turn yellow at the base of the blossom stem and fall off. I'd say at this point maybe 40% of blossoms have set fruit. Is this normal for a plant that is just reaching maturity? Also I have been since using a q-tip to hand pollinate to see if it would help the yeilds. The plants seem to be green and healthy.
