Pickled Habanero Garlic is the SH*#

A few weeks ago I was driving back to Austin from hanging out with some friends. I was pretty tired so I decided to stop and grab a drink, choosing a truck stop because they are notorious for wicked grub. Turns out they had a whole isle of canned and dried goods by a local company, jams, jellies, beef jerky, salsa, pickled quail eggs, and more. But the thing that caught my eye was Habanero Garlic.

Back of the label lists just 6 ingredients: Garlic cloves, vinegar, water, habaneros, jalapenos & salt.

As you can see its over halfway empty, I can't stop eating these things.

They have a great flavor, with a suprisingly mild garlic taste for how crunchy the cloves are. Decent heat that will build into a good burn if you eat enough cloves, but not overwhelming after 1 or 2 so even non-chileheads would appreciate these. Once this jar is gone I'm going back for 2. Pickled garlic has earned a permanent spot in my fridge.

I don't know if you can order this online or not, they have a website but it seems to just sell by the case. I bet if you called and asked they'd ship one to you though, I can't see why they wouldn't. It would definitely be worth the effort!

Back in Alaska a few years back, a mom and pop joint was doing something very similar but not with habs. Some kind of thai chile I recollect now. I ate them like candy and couldn't get enough.
Dude, you should make your own, it's very simple. Do up one or two jars at a time and it won't have a chance to go bad.

Just put cloves in the dehydrator?
sounds interesting...

Brown the garlic slowly in a pan with a bit of olive oil to get some roasty flavor, cool, slice thin, and then deyhdrate. Awesomenessess X10!
