seeds planting seeds..

i use to plant seeds in a peat pallets. so far the success rate for me is 10% only. i was trying to plant some sweet bell peppers. tried a few ways. got fed up and i dump all the seeds on a vege bed. i bought humus mixed soil plus some yellow clay , sand ,coco fibres and mulch at the bottom. This is what happened. it all sprouted in a week. and the picture below is after another week.

can i try bhut jolokia's this way ????

I don't care for the peat pellets either and it sounds like you have a good mix that should germinate any chilli seed if kept moist and warm. Good luck.

My method:

Take a 10" octagonal plastic to-go tray with a lid. Drill a bunch of small holes in the bottom. Add about 1.5" of Ferti-lome potting mix. Using a hemostat or tweezer, place seeds just barely in the soil. Add less than 1/4" inch of the potting mix, stick in a tub of water until the soil is sopping wet. Remove, drain, then put over a heat source with the lid on. Within 4-6 days, I have tomatoes or peppers. Remove the lid, stick under a light and water once a week. In two-three weeks, transplant to a 3" container.

Did this with well over 1000 seedlings this winter and worked a treat.
