bought these seeds on Amazon

Well, there's your problem. Amazon and Ebay seed vendors can be a crapshoot.

Anyway, it looks like a chinense to me. I can't really be more specific than that, since that is a very typical chinense phenotype you have there. It could be some variety of Habanero or Scotch Bonnet, some type of 7 Pot, an unknown cross, or any one of a boatload of other possibilities. You might try looking at the other varieties that vendor is listing and see if anything looks similar to what you have.

Maybe wait for it to change colors.....

Don't matter what kinda pepper it is
If you like it keep it

I don't like it already it looks like a mix breed

Toss it!
Don't trust Amazon pepper seeds.

I like the mystery though 😉
I also bought some Thai dragon but they are legit. How long should I let these mystery peppers go until harvest? I was waiting for them to turn red, but since I don’t think they are scorpion, I’m unsure…

Mystery peppers 🤪

Whoops I did just what I advised against & bought seeds from Mommy & Me on Etsy last fall.

I started 2 plants & when I saw them one went into a pot & the other went into the compost.

What was supposed to be Chilhuacle Rojo, was not even close.

What I ordered.

What I got.

Funny thing is these peppers look just like the Chiltipens I ordered from Amazon years ago.
These are not the peppers I ordered, however I will still let them ripen & taste them before adding the plant to the compost.

Those look like my Thai dragon. Very tasty & have some heat like 70k

Anyone have an idea of what I have?

Obviously, it's a Roatan Pumpkin Habanero, from The Hippy Seed Company!

j/k :D.....but it could happen.

Anyone have a good source?

Here's a few: Seed Vendors

Texas Hot Peppers should also be on the list, but the post is too old to edit.

Just wait for them to color-up. That's when they'll be mature, and at their best flavor point. And RED isn't the only color out there. In fact, I think these will ripen to ORANGE, lol.

I was thinking they were a habanero also. The plant is high yield. I hope they turn orange!

They ARE looking orange. Is that a good thing?

Is that a good thing?

Depends...are you ok with them not being what you ordered as you suspected and do you like the common orange habaneros from the big grocery stores? I think that's what Downriver was alluding to with his comment about the future color. You ordered an exotic superhot from an unvetted seller and given the info you had posted they were saying you were probably sent common orange habanero seeds (common scam).

I can buy them at all of the grocery stores around me so I personally would not think it's a good thing because I'd rather devote my time and resources to varieties I can't easily source. I have used them to cook with in the past and will use them in the future, I have nothing against them other than they're common and the heat/flavor is nothing special, but they will give you a habanero flavor and heat beyond a grocery store serrano.

This being your first go with peppers I'd say go ahead and grow it especially if it's starting to produce ripe pods and gain some experience with it that you can then apply to more exotic types next time around 😎
