indoor-growing Please help noob with Chilli and Jalapenos in growbox.

Hi all. This year I started my first pepper adventure. I've build a growbox with 3 led lamps 28W. It has been 2-3 months of growing and now I'm after first replanting of few chillis and jalapenos. At this stage do plants need light 24/7 or should I start simulating day-night cycle?

Hey, Henry. I would drop back to between 12 and 18 hours of light. Looking at your plants, they appear quite healthy, but leggy and perhaps underdeveloped for their age range. You may want to consider whether your environment is optimized, as this suggests some dialing in of the temperature and light intensity would improve performance and their readiness to bear fruit, etc. I

I'd be cautious decreasing day length too much until addressing the legginess, though growing in a grow box means that light and temperature will be strongly interrelated and that takes some figuring out. Peppers tend to get leggy when the ambient temperature is high relative to the amount of light they're receiving. Since increase/decreasing light may have a corresponding effect on temperature, that should be considered in figuring out the right balance.

What kind of peppers are you growing?

@CaneDog Thanks for answering. My next question was 'why they are so long?' but that covers that ;) Those are few jalapenos I planted from seeds from a pepper I got from a friend and chilis from pepper bought at a supermarket, they were just named 'chilis' so maybe next time I post a photo and someone can identify exact type.

That's awesome! I'm growing some jalapenos this season too. Good luck with them and definitely post more pictures of how they and the mystery peppers do!
