Pollen in eggplant flowers

I was going to try my hand (no pun intended) at hand pollinating my eggplants since I heard they can have a hard time pollinating by themselves and I dont really have too many pollinating insects buzzing around. They were my first flowers and were open a few days.

On the first day, I put my finger where the pollen would have been and found none, at least none I could see. So I tried in the following days and still nothing. Now the first flower has fallen off and I am wondering if this is natural for the first few to drop or not produce pollen or if maybe its because of the heat.

Now I know about the "willard post" but that is not exactly what im looking for. I just want to know if maybe the flower did not produce pollen, or if it is too small to see or something. These are huge flowers and thought it may be pretty easy to do myself.

Apparently not.
