pollinating

ok i dont have any blooms yet but i also do not have any bugs to help pollinate them when they do bloom so my question is how would i pollinate my plants if no bugs are attracted to them when they bloom?

You can use a Q-Tip or small paint brush. Just take the Q-Tip and lightly brush it on one flower and then transfer it to another flower. Plus it's a good way to spend some quality time with your plants! :)

just anywhere on the flower or the center of the flower?o boy im gonna be busy lol these carribean reds already have around 40 buds on each plant and getting 2 or 3 more everyday

once blooms appear take an electric tooth brush ,turn it on and gently touch it to the stem for about 10 to 15 seconds, the vibration can release pollen and fertilize the flowers

or gently tap the stem a few times that seems to work too

thanks your friend joe

I also have problems pollenating my carrib reds, I just use my finger and tap the centre of the flower.

I have also found that if you hand pollenate each flower every day that its open you will get more peppers. If you dont get it the first time, the subsequent attempts should work for you.

my wife thinks im a nut already with these plants. if she sees me with the electric tooth brush she is going to call belleview and have me committed. lol

Around 3 o'clock in the afternoon is the best time of day to try pollinating, I believe.

Sorry, I'm heading a bit off topic.

Can I use Qtip technique to do cross pollination for annum and c. Chinense varieties. Or sometimes referring to hands cross pollination.

Thanks all.

I use my old Colgate SonicPower 360 toothbrush (I replaced it with a new one...) with the bristles cut off, and an inch of rubber hose slipped on it. When you touch the branch around, near or on the bloom, you can see the pollen puff off the flower.

My plants are all inside so I pollinate the flowers myself using my finger.

No big science there, give it a try and see for yourself.
