Potential Medicinal Qualities of Hot Peppers

I thought I would start a thread on - key word- POTENTIAL health benefits of hot peppers.

I say 'potential' because one has to be very clear NOT to say 'X will CURE Y'.

So I am going to post what I've read in other places- current research and findings by various institutes.

I just want to be clear that while these references posted here do have links/footnotes, and you can research it further, I in no way mean to suggest truth basically for sake of liability and of course, it's good sense not to take often in vivo or in vitro lab work on mice and jump to conclusions that it will test true with humans.

Come to think of it - I would think Mice probably have a cure for cancer already with all the research out there, in fact, it looks like for mice ? They have KILLER - wrong word- well - 1/2 wrong, I'm sure a lot of mice are killed FOR research BUT on the other hand, I've seen aging reversed in studies for mice, tumor apoptosis, Alzheimer's disease reversed- ALL For mice- in fact, I should look into research into how to become a mouse - because i'd have much better health options ! :)

(For MY posts ? I'll include the general category the post is germane to as first word(s))

CANCER: Prostate and Lung (For MY posts ? I'll include the general category the post is germane to as first word(s))

from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsaicin

My summary:
Key issues are Capsaicin potentially causes cell death in Prostate gland tumors by a factor of 5x compared to nothing. (there is that word POTENTIALLY to make those lawyers happy- PLUS it IS good sense again, not to jump to conclusions, even IF IT IS the American Association for Cancer Research).

SECOND part of this paste refers to some interesting research on lung cancer which was news to me - the most advancements I've seen on this were with Vitamin D-3 from Mass Gen / Harvard studies and it wasn't for small cell.

PASTE BEGINS:

The American Association for Cancer Research reports studies suggesting capsaicin is able to kill prostate cancer cells by causing them to undergo apoptosis.[40][41] The studies were performed on tumors formed by human prostate cancer cell cultures grown in mouse models, and showed tumors treated with capsaicin were about one-fifth the size of the untreated tumors. There have been several clinical studies conducted in Japan and China that showed natural capsaicin directly inhibits the growth of leukemic cells.[42]
Another study carried out at the University of Nottingham suggests capsaicin is able to trigger apoptosis in human lung cancer cells as well.[43]
