Problems with plant

My yellow scotch bonnet had decided it doesn't need leaves for some reason. It has lost the majority of its leaves over the last 36 hrs, all flowers of all stages have shriveled up to nothing, and there is some funny discoloration on the leaves. ANy ideas on whats wrong?

Magnesium deficiency, 10000% sure. Had one of my plants do that this year, I had given it some epsom salt a few days before but the damage was done, a few days later it started dropping leaves like crazy.

Give it some Epsom salt in the soil AND the leaves, and I'd give it some calcium (since your leaves are crinkled and bumpy) and hit it up with some balanced fertilizer. And then DO NOT water it AT ALL untill the soil is bone dry!

Ohh and by the way my plant is bouncing back great now, leaves are darkening and new growth popping up.

Anytime you see new growth getting that yellow, mutated or misformed new growth or yellowing/dropping of older bottom leaves, this is a sure sign of a nutrient deficiency.

plant problems

Unless it was unknown to me, no they haven't been. And There are two other of the same plants right by them with no problems.

Whats the best source of calcium for them, as I know I have a few other plants that need it. They were just fertilized a few days ago with the same thing other plants are thriving from.

Ground eggshells releases calcium very slowly, I use Dolomite Lime which is Calcium Magnesium carbonate (CaMg), and it's somewhat neutral in pH so it can raise the soil pH, but I have given it to many of my plants and the pH didnt change much.

I got mine at Wal-mart and it's in a pelletized form which disolves into water very easily making it a pretty quick source of calcium and magnesium, that and it's dirt cheap (10lbs bag for US $4).

If you are going the Dolomite way, skip the epsom salt in the soil and only spray on the leaves (1 Tablespoon per gallon of water), dont spray the lime on the leaves though!

It should take a few days, but you will start to see the leaves taking on a darker green appearence, and some older leaves may still drop, so dont feed them again thinking it's not working.

I will get the leaves tonight and pick up some dolomite lime from somewhere tomorrow, just got to try and see if i can find it.

You can find it near lawn care, or outside garden center, depending on where you go. In any case, you can alwayse ask one of the store employees where you might find some.

With the quality of the employees at the stores by me, I would have better luck just looking for it, and thats even if I could find someone to help me. The normal response I get is this is not my department and they walk off.
