Purple Chilli

i just received some purple chillis. The plant they are growing on has red and green chillis, as well as the purple ones. All the chillis are very round, almost egg shaped. Are the chillis edible, if so how spicy?
 
Many different chile varieties turn purple, and not all are of the same species. telling you how hot they are, or even what they are is impossible without identifying them first.
All chiles are edible, though.
 
Yeah thats if they are chillis though! Dont go eating stuff that you don't know what it is.
