Purple Thunder / Bhut Jolokia x (PdN x Bonda Ma Jacques)

I have decided to start a dedicated Grow Log for
the Purple Thunder Bhut Jolokia hybrid.

It made its first appearance in 2015:
"This coloration might be the result of the intense
light on these red Bhuts, but only 2/6 show the trait.
If it is a cross, the only purple-y plant near the bhut
was Trippa's Mystery Cross. All of these seeds from
the same pod:"

Here's a few more four your viewing pleasure, @talas!

In general the pods on the F6 Panama GH are much darker
than the F4 version. Also, many of the F6 pods have a matte
finish, whereas the F4's are generally more glossy. The late
season pods are showing predominantly caramel coloration,
except for the F4 on the east side of the yard; they have retained
the predominantly yellow color, but not as gnarly. I haven't picked
F4's from the 18-gallon container on the North side, but there are
some beauty pods, with great coloration similar to the pods
@Pepper-Guru grew.

These pods from the 10-gallon F4 are almost totally caramel.

F6 showing the same trait. Three pods at the left are drying for seeds.

Here's a slender iteration of your F4 yellow-caramel. First pod; many bigger/meaner ones on the plant but I fear they won't have time to ripen as my season is coming to an end soon...

Nice color/phenotype on that pod, @Bou.
I’m in the same boat, just hoping to get another
handful of ripe ones before Fall season arrives
in earnest, probably sooner than I would like :mope:

Seeing these has picked up my week no end @PaulG gorgeous pods in the 10 gallon F4 real stunners but all the F4 are just lovely pods bet your a proud grower Sir and Bou's look great to.🙂

Thanks for the good vibe, @talas. This has turned out
pretty good for being a spurious cross. The orange and
red variants are pretty cool, as well. Hope somebody
will share pics of how those are doing.

Hi Paul this season plant was from your seed Purple Thunder BJH - 2 (2019) you kindly sent me. Maybe the shape is different from those above but it has moved from a solid purple to a burnt Orange

Here’s my 3 PT F4 plants. They all are ripening red. Even the one, on the right side, with more purple foliage that has the purple pods on it. The 2 on the left side didn’t get purple foliage or purple pods.

@PtMD989 - wow, Bryan, those red and purple
pods look great! Good work! Those plants look awesome
as well.

Such cool colors in they many varieties of these.. Love that pheno you're running there, @Trident chilli !
I think I've finally got a ripe one (PDN x BMJ Purple F7).. It went a little soft and has some nice caramel tones in it. Shown next to a newer one.
Excited to finally try one of these, but I don't want to grab it early. There's actually 2 of them about the same.

Talk about yellow undertones! This thing is gold all the way thru. Probably not the first thing I should have nibbled on today! :mouthonfire:
This one is very floral and hot, with zero sweet.. Are they all like this?
Shown next to the orange pheno of Peach Volante X, for comparison.

To my impoverished palate, all the PT varieties are super hot.
I have no idea of the Scoville Units, but they have to be up there
in the stratosphere somewhere.

Thanks for growing these out sharing those pics, the oily interior
of those pods definitely gives me the willies!
