Rank and File 2023

Fresh recruits, all in order by letter assignment. Ayucllo and Tiger MAMP have been no-shows so far. Aji Pineapple managed to put a weak one up last week, but it hasn't done much since it popped. All the rest are doing alright, in spite of the aphids. A lot of peppers from seasons past still around too. LemonDrop Baccatum is putting most of the others to shame for production, but there's a few varieties that are having a productive winter indoors.

I have maybe been a little more attentive this winter, but not all that much more.

Wow, the season is almost gone again.. Most of my new plants are just start to take off.
The interspecific project is coming along about as well as I could hope. Aside from adding some baccatum highlights to the flowers, it seems to have retained most of the traits I favored with the parent. Hoping this will do even better than the parents, which both do fairly well indoors. Would you call that constricted?

I thought I had a better picture of the habit.. Maybe next time. The tips have a tendency to droop dramatically at times during the day, exposing the dark purple stems. Hopefully it's not pollen-sterile like the mother.

Really loving the look of these hybrid Uvalde Pequin I got from @PaulG too! I'm really interested in how they will fare indoors this winter. These were all from the purple plant Paul grew last year, but they are quite a mix. I grew four and all sprouted, one got snatched or otherwise eradicated at the community garden plot, but the others are here.
The greener one seems to be a little more compact, but I'll probably be following the purple genetics. There are currently a few getting ripe on the fully purple, the first one getting ripe on the purple stemmed one, and none turning colors on the fully green one.. Coincidence?

There are many other peppers, maybe I'll get some more up soon. Sadly, the Mini-Olive Rocs all died.. Never seemed to take off. Ayucllo has yet to show itself. Most of the others are doing good though. Hope your projects are thriving!

It's hard to pick favorites, but the two of these hybrids varieties I pulled from peppers I bought off Bhuter are definitely up there for me. Besides the one I mentioned in the last post, this Chinense has been great, and one of the most durable I've found for for overwintering.. Not sure if it's the way I'm keeping them or just the variety. The Fatalii White we have is tough as nails too.
This one is is just now ripening a pod, after putting on a lot growth..

The other decided to focus on pods first, and hasn't put on nearly the growth the other has.

The bushy one is on the list for cuttings here this week, since it made such nice cutting material. I keep saying I'm going to repot these.. 3rd year.

Recent harvest from our indoor plants. Lemondrops(4"pot-2nd year), Zimbabwe PiriPiri(1G#-2nd yr), Bird Aji Baccatum(.5-2G#-2nd yr).. I haven't been keeping up with the harvesting. All are pretty reliable winter producers, if I don't neglect or abuse them too much.

Sometimes I forget to rotate the lights, forget to water.. Bonsai!! The Uvalde Wild don't produce well for us indoors, and I get the impression they want a nice dormant period. I'm looking forward to seeing if the hybrid one from @PaulG will do any better.
