Reaper Vodka - YUCK

Last year, daughter of couple that I adore had wedding.  Father of bride wanted to screw with bride so asked me for some Carolina Reapers.  Seems groom brags about liking hot food and brother of bride can eat anything.  They tore the groom up with a challenge.  Anyway, son put three into a pint of vodka in a mason jar.  It soaked for nearly a year.

He brought that jar to ren fair.  Lots of folk camp there and alcohol helps a bit.  We have a pot luck on saturdays, so he brought the stuff.  It was nasty.  He was surprised that I did not like it.  I kept thinking off the commercial with you got your chocolate in my peanut butter.  Imagine if someone liked chocolate but detested peanuts.  I detest vodka.

Thing is, I wind up tasting lots of absolutely disgusting spicy food and beverage.  Someone once gave me ghost pepper lemon aid.  I kind of like some of the pepper chocolates that have been coming out.  Had one at Bob Evens of all places that was great.  But then had some hot pepper fudge that about made me ill.

Why is it people seem to think that if you like hot food that you will like anything with peppers in it?  Some combinations just dont cut it and some people just cant cook.

Reaper pepsi is good but I've never seen the appeal of vodka. Too much alcohol flavour with too little anything else flavour. Reaper can only do so much to save it.

Im not a fan of pepper infused alcohol with one exception....There is a drink/shot called a red hot. Its cinnamon schnapps with a drop or two of Tabasco on top. Its oddly addictive. The hot and salty flavor pair well with the schnapps.

Drop a reaper or two into a bottle of cinnamon schnapps maybe?

Oddly, a SMALL bit of spice sounds good in Pepsi.  I think maybe because of the sugar.  I love on some hot pepper jam and it is about half sugar.  Bad diabetic.

InfiNaga all the way there, buddy. You want the chilli to accentuate the deep warmth of the cinnamon alcohol, not add more upfront heat.

I haven't done it but I'm guessing the best way to fuck with someone with peppers would be to add a little super hot powder with it while setting up the coffee pot.

I once tasted a guy's homemade Ghost mead. On the one hand, the mead wasn't overwhelmed with heat, but on the other, it just didn't taste very good. The pepper completely masked all the fermented honey flavors. It was a drink that wanted to be sweet but wound up being slightly spicy, vegetal, and nothing else.

I'm all for bloody marys or bloody beers with ample hot sauce.
