Replanting Ghost Peppers

I have a ghost pepper that is around 3 feet tall. Its loaded with peppers, some are bright orange now. The problem is I planted this in a 2 gallon bucket and am curious if I could transplant this to a 5 gallon bucket without it going into shock. My general though was to take a utility knife and cut this bucket on the sides to ease the plant out and put in the 5 gallon bucket. Or should I just leave it alone as the growing season is nearing its end? Thanks everyone.

.
Cutting the smaller bucket should minimize transplant shock. Having said that if the plant is loaded and your season short I question the move. Leave it be IMO.

Thanks Chile man! Also Thank you to the others for the welcome!  I have pretty much decided to go ahead and transplant this one. Its loaded with green and bright orange peppers now and a lot of new ones growing.

please do a follow up thread in the growing hot peppers section here with how the plant does with being transplanted with ripening pods on it. good luck with it.

edit to add that i have a red ghost also in a pot that is probably about 2 gallon and plant close to 3 feet tall with plenty of pods. it is probably rootbound but the plant is doing fine. this pic is from a month ago and now many of the pods are ripening.

Nice! Do you prune your plant? I do mine at the bottom and also feed mine coffee/tea grounds. When I water mine which is daily, I add 2 aspirin so they do not get headaches.LOL, Seriously, aspirin stimulates plants. I have two plants, Ghost and Carolina Reaper and they both are loaded with peppers. Once mine have peppers I reduce the water and the reason is it makes them hotter from my experience so far. I will post some pictures later.

You're welcome.

With your location getting those "a lot of new ones growing": to ripen will be a challenge. Please update us on your progress!
