Repurposing a deli cupcake tray

Wife recently bought 2 doz cupcakes from the grocery store for one of her classes.  She brought the leftovers home and the tray caught my interest.  Just started more seeds since I still have room in the garden and we have a very long season.  Looks like a perfect starter tray with more head room than store bought starter trays with peat pellets.  I shall see...

Looks like it may have possibilities. what is the depth of the bottoms as I see you have starter media in them instead of the peat pellets you also mentioned. Free is awesome if it is usable.

Looks like 4 more useable spaces on the lid.
yeah, till you inspect the progress of the other 24

Instead of the peat pellets I've started using straight garden soil but sift it to 1/4" minus.  I think it works better for transplanting.

Bottoms hold 1.375" of soil nicely and 2" of top room.

that should work pretty good for quick germination with the idea they will shortly after be transplanted. they appear to be reinforced for stacking which will save space for that step.
