Rymerpt says hello from California

I have found a wonderfull Thai resturant that serves a very spicey dipping sauce with the sticky rice. When I asked for the recipe I was denied. I have looked online and everything I find is MUCH to mild. I'm pretty sure what the resturant serves is known as nam pla prik. Fish sauce with peppers. I consider myself a decent cook and am pissed that I can't replicate the recipe. Anyone have ideas or a recipe for a good Thai dipping sauce for rice?

Thanks,
Rymerpt

And as far as the dipping sauce for the rice goes, no idea :( Try using some of those recipes you find and substitute some of the superhot peppers you'll find here from some of the vendors

dude, i'll give u the recipe right now... it's simple!

1/4 cup fish sauce...  this may be too much tho.  i usually eyeball.
half lemon/lime...  also may be too much, i eyeball
thai peppers, thinly sliced...  lots
minced galic...  optional
ginger...  optional
sugar...  also optional
msg, or salt...  also optional...i don't use either

basically, the simple way is:

fish sauce
lemon
peppers

that's usually all i put,...  i eat it with eggs, chicken, beef, soups, anything!
i do add minced tomatoes to mine tho...  especially with soups
