Scarlet and Green Leafhoppers

I went out to feed my plants last night noticing some yellowing leaves and I came across these.

They are Scarlet and Green Leafhoppers has anyone had them and got rid of them?
They feed on the juices of weeds and cultivated plants. When they feed, they inject saliva into the plant which inhibits the sap from running, eventually resulting in wilting and leaf drop.
So I found the source of my yellowing leaves now how to get rid of them.

LUCKYDOG ...... those sure are pretty bugs !! To bad they like peppers leaves. Maybe a Spinosad based product will help. It's a safe product and kills most everything that eats a leaf after using it.

Peace & Good Luck,

I am going to need to follow this closely as well. I used spinosad with very little luck. Same results with neem oil. Those little bugers usually don't let you take a picture. I find them trying to stay on the opposite side of the stem from where I am standing. They are pretty quick. They can fly as well as hop from leaf to leaf. They look like little insect acrobats! There are supposedly over 4000 varieties of leafhopper and they are one of the oldest recorded types of bug. All I can offer is squash the crap out of them. I hope to hear other peoples experiences.

By the way, they mate thru their rear ends. You happened to capture a bit of LEAFHOPPER PORN!!!!

Way to go!! But seriously, your problem just multiplied.

I'm disgusted now !! I thought they were just pretty pepper leaf eating shits that needed to go...... I had no idea they were back to back havin' a go !! Little bastards .....

NorTexChiliJs ... I had good luck with spinosad. Seems to kill cucumber beetles , horn worms , and leaf hopper things. They are very small , jump fast and love radish leaves but will eat eat anything if they need to.

Peace,
P. Dreadie

I would try to get the best macro shots possible before nailing them. If praying mantis survive in your area, I would consider buying some online and setting them out in the garden. Great entertainment and they are killing machines.
