health Seeds - dark spots inside vs not?

Does it make a difference?

Some seem to have these little black spots inside the seeds and others do not. Does this matter or not? Would one mark it as no good or more likely to germinate? Thanks.

I would personally toss those seeds. I am not sure if they are viable or not but in the bin is where i would put them.
I think i remember someone saying that the black spots are caused from the seeds not being mature yet, could be speaking outta my donkey though!

For me, the seeds with black centers seem to work too.

Me, considering how many plants I manage to kill, I germinate everything, close my eyes, and cross my fingers :-)

black spot seeds I'd throw them out, unless you only have so many then plant them or keep them for just incase the others dont sprout. but dont hold your breath.

as for the seeds that float, I think thats just a myth.

I avoid the seeds with black bits in but when times are desperate I'll try them, usually without much luck though.

My manzano seeds are black, I think we need to define WHAT the black parts are in order to treat them.(mold)

But they are meant to be black, I mean the white ones with black centres.

Do a simple germ test in a paper towel/baggie and find out. The results might be surprising (or not):).

I'm going to try this test with a batch of seeds I'm having problems with. Just in case. I think if they're not fully mature they won't be as dense, and thus may float.

For some reason this made me think of this:

Sir Bedevere: There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
Peasant 1: Are there? Oh well, tell us.
Sir Bedevere: Tell me. What do you do with witches?
Peasant 1: Burn them.
Sir Bedevere: And what do you burn, apart from witches?
Peasant 1: More witches.
Peasant 2: Wood.
Sir Bedevere: Good. Now, why do witches burn?
Peasant 3: ...because they're made of... wood?
Sir Bedevere: Good. So how do you tell whether she is made of wood?
Peasant 1: Build a bridge out of her.
Sir Bedevere: But can you not also build bridges out of stone?
Peasant 1: Oh yeah.
Sir Bedevere: Does wood sink in water?
Peasant 1: No, no, it floats!... It floats! Throw her into the pond!
Sir Bedevere: No, no. What else floats in water?
Peasant 1: Bread.
Peasant 2: Apples.
Peasant 3: Very small rocks.
Peasant 1: Cider.
Peasant 2: Gravy.
Peasant 3: Cherries.
Peasant 1: Mud.
Peasant 2: Churches.
Peasant 3: Lead! Lead!
King Arthur: A Duck.
Sir Bedevere: ...Exactly. So, logically...
Peasant 1: If she weighed the same as a duck... she's made of wood.
Sir Bedevere: And therefore...
Peasant 2: ...A witch!

That's exactly what popped into my mind too! I didn't know if there was anyone who would get the reference here.

Seriously? After that Monty Python cascade in the lounge?

You know, I wondered who'd been rifling through my underwear drawer.
