soil Soil Temperature and Salinity

The link I am inserting goes to one of the most interesting research articles from New Mexico State University I have to date read titled "Chile Seed Germination as Affected by Temperature and Salinity". Thought some may enjoy the read.

What was it that interested you so?

I found the part about the effect of day/night temperatures on germination interesting, and that may be something worth trying.

This part:

A review of the chile seed germination literature (Bosland and Votava, 2000) indicates that day/night temperature fluctuations of 30º/15º C (86º/59º F) at 16 hours of light and 8 hours of darkness is biologically the best temperature and lighting range for chile germination.

Seems to me they are saying that it is best to not only fluctuate the hours of light and dark but also the temperature 86/59 F.

Makes me wonder if a constant 86F is best.

Yeah, that's the part that caught my eye. I'm giving serious thought to trying that this spring.
