sorry-my-space-bar-is-broken.
i-am-growing-chilli-plants-indoors-under-lights-but-some-of-the-seedlings-leaves-have-turned-black.
i-first-saw-this-when-they-were-on-the-windowsill-oneof-them-developed-black-leaves-however-since-putting-them-under-lights-a-lot-more-of-then-have-gone-the-same-way.

i-put-a-digital-thermostat-in-there-and-have-kept-the-temp-between-21-and-27-c.

this-is-my-first-year-growing-and-i-need-some-help.

is-the-problem-too-much-heat-or-light-or-disease?

this-morning-i-decided-to-put-them-back-on-the-windowsill-from-sunrise-to-sunset-then-back-under-lights-for-6-hours.
what-should-i-do?

First of all, this post would probably get a lot more attention in the growing section rather than the welcome section.

What types of seeds are they?  Some plants grow dark purple leaves.

:welcome:  to THP!

Can you post pics of them? It very well could be, for lack of a better description, a sun tan. But we could really use some pics to help us determine the cause.

Hard to say without pics but if the plants appear healthy other than the dark leaves I'm with TNR its just a suntan from light exposure. If this is the cause they will be fine and grow out of it.

And welcome to THP!

Looks to me like they are turning purple and not black. Either phosphorous or magnesium deficiency, OR it is lacking some nutrients

thanks-for-the-welcomes-guys!
i-dont-think-its-nutrients-because-i-feed-them-chilli-focus.
ok-i-have-just-sprayed-the-seedlings-with-epsom-salts-and-cal-mag-because-erodude-thought-it-was-possible-they-may-have--needed-phosphorous-or-magnesium.
i-am-also-going-to-put-them-on-the-windowsill-through-the-day-and-put-them-under-the-lights-from-sunset-to-midnight-and-see-if-it-sorts-it-out.
does-anyone-else-have-any-ideas-or-suggestions-as-to-what-it-might-be-and-how-to-rectify-it?

Plants with too much exposure to light will, like others have said, display purple leaves. Back off on any artificial light and see if the new growth is green.

i would suggest that you don't spray them and put directly in the sun or under your lights right away .     :onfire:

This, when my plants are too close to the T5s they will get purpling on them. It's their version of a sun tan and a self defense mechanism to keep from getting burned.

overkill yes ive just raised the lights im going to keep the plants on the windowsill untill sunset then put them under the lights till midnight hopefully this will resolve the issue thanks for the advice guys
