Battled a problem like yours for six weeks . The only thing that worked was a heavy trim and re peated azamax treatments. plants anapped right out of it.
I use the Bayer spray,,I have heard that if ya dont get em all on tha first try with Bayer,,that the rest become immune!
I dont know how true that is.
For the Spider mites I had a few years back I bought something called AVID,,it killed every living bug around!
but it saved my garden!

Dayum! That's a lot of Aphids.....
I wouldn't have any idea how to go about that other than a torch and some oxyacetylene. I'm sure that's not an option for ya though.

bayer is highly addictive, if you keep spraying you're just feeding the habit and they'll stick around waiting for than next hit. j/k

I'll update tomorrow with the latest results.. --- I just finished the last couple plants in a neem bath...
lol.. I did!!! with 3,000 ladybugs and 1,000 lacewing -- I gave them a little over a week and the good guy population was dropping at almost the same exponential rate as the aphids were exploding!!! -- I saved as many ladybugs as I could, but as you can tell from the pictures, I hit a critical limit on the aphid population - I had to act in a drastic way... drown the bastards!!! lol
UPDATE!
Last weekend I soaked my plants in the tub for 3 hrs each in a weak solution of neem oil and dial dish soap then sprayed off the plants with the shower head. -- this killed 99.9% of them and was fantastic! -- afterwards I couldn't find a single one. Yesterday I found ~10 aphids on my seedlings so I sprayed every plant very thoroughly to include the soil with 1.5 tsp malathon per gallon. I'm guessing they were either stow away eggs or hiding on my walls, lol... hopefully I can keep up with them this time and keep them from getting out of hand.

When I see aphids I dust with Dio. Earth, its almost the same stuff they filter pools with, the flour like powder cut into their soft flesh and turns them into bug jerky the same happens to thier eggs and babies. The main problem it does the same thing to ladybugs. I like the bath and sauna idea followed with a good spray of clean water . I would then nuke and sterilize the soil and spray down your plant room with a good light seven spray, rugs windows and such and the first time you see one again use the dust or go through another bath and water spray down. Boy I have not seen anything like that in quite awhile sorry you have such a bad problem with them, but you can look at it this way, if it doesn't kill them, it will make them stronger. (Hopefully)

I sprayed well, top and bottom of all foliage, repeated after two days and now my overwintering garage chili plants are aphid free.
Bonus - Still have my ladybugs hanging around !
I have been using Murphy's oil soap in the garden for years, this product with d-lemonine looks to be an Environmental winner too!

I've been battling the little suckers for a couple of months now too. I have the stuff to soak, re-pot, and 3 in1 spray them. With the holidays and having bronchitis I'm behind in getting my seeds started (in the house not the garage where the buggers are) and the re potting done. So I gave the plants a good spraying of neem oil last weekend and pa pow! I don't see a single aphid alive. I'm not claiming victory yet but i was just trying to buy some time till I could do them right. So far I'm impressed. Of course Sevin killed them for awhile too. Considering neem is natural and as far I can see pretty harmless I hope it keeps them gone.
Definitely do not claim victory yet. One key to success with neem, is to spray again, 48 hours after your initial treatment. Aphid eggs hatch every 2-3 days and neem only works on contact. Many times I will spray a third time just to be sure.
Also, neem is safe as far as mammals are concerned, but spraying too often will cause a buildup on your plant's leaves that will choke them causing them to die. Its a delicate balance, so just be careful. After 2-3 treatments give a good spray of plain water then give plants a break from the neem for a while.
If you have a sever outbreak, go with AzaMax first, which is neem on steroids, then you can maintain with regular neem treatments once every 1-2 weeks.
*this is how I do it, lots of way to skin a cat though, so always explore your options.

There comes a time in the battle against aphids that you have to take the gloves off. I'm all for using organic means of killing them but simply put they don't work. I've used them exclusively for many seasons. They never got rid of them all. I got to where I was spraying safer soap every three days. Knock 'em down for a day or two but they came back every single time. I bet I spent over $150 on organic crap. I don't use any of it any more. I brought out the chemicals. The big, bad, nasty don't let it touch your skin God forbid it gets in your eyes chemicals. The past two years at the first sign of aphids I have filled my pump sprayer up with Ortho Max Insect Killer. That isn't the exact name but it uses Bifenthrin. I have soaked the plants, top to bottom and the top of the soil. I've never had to use it a second time. Screw aphids.
