Stung-Tongue's MORUGUM™ chile

Hello fellow chile heads. 
I feel this post is fitting. this is something ive been working on since 2012/13 i cant hold it in anymore.

Thank you Jon Harper who is the “Father” of the original 7pot bubblegum variety. i have crossed his BG7 with the Moruga scorpion via plants from RFC in 2013 (technically a back cross as the original BG7 is moruga x yellow 7pot cross. The purpose for our refined cross is to create a large Moruga style with a "bleeding cap/hat". after 3 seasons its physically very uniform...the punnett square sequence was used for the "cap"/large leafy calyx while choosing bigger size and moruga style. its perfect for dried pods with a thick jerky like flesh, seems great for reconstitution? flavor is bubblegum with less potpouri floral zest than moruga but full tongue and roof mouth burn...good solid 10 minute burn moruga style...the sliver of pods i had was as hot as a moruga but more upfront and less of that floral taste. more smooth like flavor of the yellow 7pot with stinging needle burn.    
 
2013  bubblegum 7pot (BG7) x moruga scorpion (MS)
2014 BG7/MS f1 x BG7(backcross x1) 
2015 BG7/MS<xBG7 x BG7 (backcross x2)
 
Objective: maintain the bleeding "cap" style calyx. extra thick walls and overall size of the pods on tall 4ft tree like plants. focus on preserving the smooth creamy light floral notes of the yellow 7pot hidden within the BG7. maintaining the superhot status is a very important feature as well.  The MORUGUM has the best of all traits with the heat just a little below the moruga.  the double back cross BG7 helped maintain the bleeding calyx and the 2015 cross will be into the moruga to increase size more and raise shu. essentially creating a moruga w/ bleeding large calyx. adding wrinkles would be awesome and the moruga button could be a great refining project for someone. while i stabilize on my end someone else could start the wrinkles/button so that we can then cross the two. hmmmm  
 
This is a community breeding project. anyone else want to continue the heritage is welcome to contact me. i would love to let Jon Harper know of the MORUGUM as this wouldn't of been anything without his super cool BG7.

Hey dude, have you thought of using a family-tree website to track the progress? Since a bunch of us (i'm hoping more people have PMd you offering to help grow out certain traits) are growing this out, maybe we can track each plant which was used as part of the cross, attach pics for each one so we can see each generation, etc. Might be pretty cool to track it that way. And I'm preetty sure generic family tree sites will allow you to do that, including date of "birth", pics, details, etc.

The MORUGUM™ Agenda.
 
looking to refine the genetics a bit. grow out 10 morugum plants from our seed and when they are pods you pick the best looking based on our focus. hopefully the 10 seeds i send will be pretty uniform. we are looking for basically a moruga pod with a bleeding "hat" or large leafy calyx. the main focus is to get the calyx to start "bleeding" early...or at least earlier than it has been. right now it is "bleeding" very very late...like almost a 4-7 days after rippening. So basically you would grow separate from anything else to prevent cross pollination, when plant is mature, you choose the pods which resemble a moruga scorpion pod (button on bottom) but with a "hat" which "bleeds" (or turns stem red) earlier than it ripens or at same time. (like the BG7, bubblegum 7pot calyx).  
 
Unlike other breeding practices, we are not trying to refine filial groups f1, f2, f3, etc just yet.  this program is all about back breeding to uniformity by utilizing the Punnett square theory. by back crossing we will greatly increase our odds for the traits we want which will make stabilization much easier. this practice is good when you have unstable genetics to begin with like the bubblegum. Moruga is stable for the most part. 
 
Punnett sq will help maximized and increase the chances of our chosen outcomes/needs for the Phenotype and genotype.

these are the wants and needs for the MORUGUM ™
 
Moruga phenotype: (1)large pods, (2) bottom button (3) bumpy flesh
Moruga Genotype: (1) extremely hot
 
Bubblegum 7pot phenotype: (1) large calyx (2) bleeding calyx 
Bubblegum 7 pot Genotype: (1) yellow 7pot flavor
 
 
There is plenty of information on the internet of this. Happy learnings. This is better breeding practices than some of the pollen chucked strains out there.
