Tale of two bonnets

Back in May I purchased a four pack tray of red scotch bonnets. I planted 2 in my raised beds at home and 2 in containers at work. The 2 at home are putting out blooms that are white with purple edges. The 2 at work are putting out plain white flowers. So my question is has anybody had a similar experience? Does soil composition and or nutrients play a big part in flower color?

Interesting... I've only seen purple in C. pubescens flowers?

Both versions are making pods. The pods look very similar to each other.

To be honest, the plants with plain white flowers, haven’t received the love , that the home plants have.
