Tasted a Durian today

Smells like someone threw up their Fruit Loops. Tastes slightly better than that. Horrible after taste.
 
My local asian market has these frozen...haven't been brave enough to try them yet. I watched some old No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain last week on Netflix and he ate them in a few episodes. He said most hotels in India won't let you on the premises with them...claimed they taste like tapioca pudding and smell like the juice in the bottom of trashcans.

They had to incorporate these into a sweet dessert on the tv show Sweet Genius last night. First time I ever seen or heard of them. I suppose I would taste it. They were laughing about the nasty smell.
 
I've tried one before and it was revolting in smell and taste.....NEVER cut one up indoors! They do freeze them to transport them to Australia however, so I'd try one fresh off the tree if I ever get the chance.
The juice from the bottom of the trash can......... :halo:
