Found a cool book at the thrift today 5 buckaroos, thing is the size of 2 dictionaries stacked:

It was a thrift that I visit rarely because it's located in the central part of Albuquerque, and I am on the outskirts, they had just set it on the shelf and I asked how much.. 5 bucks.. ok deal. hauled it back 10 miles on the mountain bike. It is in pretty good condition. Good day today! Cheers!

Sincere advice from personal experience. If you like the book, by all means keep it and enjoy it. If you find that perhaps it doesn't interest you so much and you are willing to let it go. I suggest that you take it to a culinary school/college if there is one accessible to you. Make an appointment with the dean or whatever head-honcho, to "ask his or her opinion" on the book. He/she will like the fact you sought their opinion, would love to display it in their office for bragging rights amongst fellow colleagues and offer to "buy it" from you. Never disclose what you paid. They will offer a great price, seldom ever fails.
 
Personally, I have never taken the money (although it would've been nice in times I really needed it) but I always just "give" them the book. You can't fathom the rewards. A simple act of kindness becomes a pay-it-forward type deal that manifests in ways you never would imagine. I collect books (old ones particularly) but have given away as many as I've retained.
 
Food for thought. Give it whatever weight you will.
 
edit: In my rush to post, I did not mean to imply that they may "only" want the book for bragging rights. That would be an unfair characterization. The subject matter may be deeply regarded and the book may be wanted to further their study. I apologize for my haste and lack of clarity. Recently, a THP member here sent me a book in similar fashion and I add that a bar of silver would not be appreciated as much...  
 
That is excellent advice Sir, I agree this book belongs to the masses. I will have to look into the donation aspect. We have a university here, so that might be the best place for it. Cheers!
 
Nice. I'm sure there are some forums online you might be able to find more info on it too. I don't know but I figure there's a forum for everything right..? lol
 
You would have to hire an 18 wheeler to haul this book lol. If I tried to read it all my head would probably explode from information overload.

There are such forums, but I hold firm if he does as I suggested he'd make a bundle if he wanted... No harm in making a few bucks... I gave mine away, but no dishonor if you don't. "One man's trash is another man's treasure."   
 
I would keep it personally. I'm a total history nut. I don't watch much TV but when I do, it's always history channel. And I love cooking so I would end up working my way through the entire book. Sounds like a fun adventure.

Can't disagree wholly on your statement, but I will tell you that my little bottles of hot sauces now grace the staff lunch rooms of several local universities, in part or in whole, from a reciprocity of kindness. I didn't do it for that reason, many occurred well before I founded my business...  Never thought of that, never saw it coming, but yet it is....
