The Left Over Grind

I had a few ripe Serrano's and decided to add them to some green peppers I had to pick prior to the freeze hitting them. The unripe ones were: Red habs, Chocolate Long habs, and half a dozen Bhut Jolokia's.

Ran them all through the dehydrator and tonight finally put them to the grind. Man, you want to see a beautiful color for a powder?

Ended up with about 20 grams of it.

Not too shy in the heat department either. ;)

Be happy to share some with anybody who's interested. Just send me a PM with your address.

Mate that looks bloody awesome....

I bet it must taste good. I presume you would get the serrano heat first then everything else would kick after that...

Looks yummy indeed! I guess it's a pretty versatile powder.
Will probably do something like that with the few pods of each variety that are left over in the end.

LD - I think all coffee grinders grind that well, I have a mr.coffee grinder & it grinds as good as shown if not better & only takes about 20sec. to get that powder.

I imagine Chilihunter is right on the money.

The one thing that I do like about this specific model is you can set the grind level, fine through course, the time, then hit the button and it does it's thing. you don't have to hold the button down. Your thumb will appreciate it after the first couple of pounds.

Plus it's got a base that winds the cord up and hides it. It's the little things. ;)

patrick - the Hamilton Beach "Custom Grind" coffee bean grinder has those options :violin:
the mr.coffe grinder doesnt have the timer or the button so no need to hold down the button to run it, the other options it has, but those 2 features would be nice to have!

It has a slide for you to set the fineness of the grind; Fine - Medium - Course, and on each of those settings is a number indicating how many cups of coffee you want to brew. That's how you set the time. You put it on 4 cups and Coarse and it grinds for just a few seconds, you set it on Fine and 15 cups and it grinds a lot longer. Both things are set with the same slide.

Let me get a picture for ya. Better than my attempts at explaining it.

Thats the one I saw -- I will probably get that one tonight they didnt have any others and I think it was 15$ -- It would be nice to clear out "The Cough Cabinet" I have all my dried peppers in there and when you open it it always brings a cough :P

I had to go to walmart today, & looked at that model. my mr.coffee model has settings for fine/medium/coarse & cup settings 4-12 cups just like yours.

the only big difference is the button to run it, I have to hold the button down to run the mr.coffee while the hamilton beach you dont need to. also the hamilton beach looks like its easier to clean & less powder waste (just a simplier design)

I bought the wrong one last year :D :)

So far I haven't had enough dried peppers to grind that I've worn my thumb out holding the button down. Hopefully next season I'll be able to take advantage of it.

If it were me I'd run my current one until it wore out. You can buy a lot of seeds and things for what the new one would cost.
