event This Saturday, Somers, CT...Be there!

SATURDAY, MAY 2

Well, it's that time of year again, when we start cranking up the events. We showed up to the NERCC Regional Chili Cook-Off last year, and had a ball, so we re-upped this year automatically. If you can make it, it's worth the trek. They expanded the event greatly this year, so it's bound to be even more fun. I haven't had time to perfect my chili yet (Def-Con Carne), but we will be cooking up a ton of wings, so everyone can consume the culinary masterpeices. There will be dozens of chili manufacturers to sample, live music, and perhaps even a Deathmatch, to make things interesting.

Just spoke with Mad Mike (organizer), looks like only a shower in the morning on Saturday. The Wife Unit just picked up the fresh wings. We will be leaving here around 3pm to meet up at the chili party this evening. Have turkey fryers, will travel!

Well, just got back from the battle. Man, woke up at about 5:30am on Saturday, looked out the hotel room, and it was pouring out. While sucky thoughts controlled my psyche, things soon changed for the better, by noon the skies completely broke and it was 70 degrees with no clouds. Had a ball, and one of th funniest Deathmatches thus far. A machine named Chip ate all 10, and for the first time, started grabbing the uneaten Deathmatch wings from other contestants and chowed them down too. Congrats to this human anomoly! After that, the same human machine won the Habanero eating contest as well, a 1/2 hour later.

Anyway, it was great meeting everyone again, and we've already signed up for next year. Cheers to the dudes at The Angry Pepper, it was great meeting you folks!

I'm gonna guess at 1500-2000 people, although there may have been more. It was at least double the turnout last year, given the weather kind of sucked. They had a number of bands, a couple radio stations show up as well. A lot of fun.
