Trimming Delima

Ok my Bhuts are huge tall and tons of flower pods all over and only way i can keep them far enough from my 400w MH is to trim the tops down but thats where i have lots of flower that =future peppers.
Do i say screw it and trim them or just use the free light from outside and let them explode from the free MH in the sky?

I was also thinking about hanging my lights in the basement thats 7' tall but it gets cold down there.

All input is welcome.

"and only way i can keep them far enough from"
sounds like you have eliminated other (useful) strategy
"All input is welcome"
through some other indoor growing,
we had strategy of bending the tips down and letting the sideshoots of the plants grow up towards the lights
one may even lay the root ball and pot on it's 'side' like it had been blown over
and let all of it grow up from there
to allow for more plant under the 'ceiling'

you can actually grow things upside down like the topsy turvy

please consider some alternate stem shapes or positions

you may lower the water or raise the bridge if you have a mind to
