Trini food!

I had lunch today at my favorite local Trini restaurant, and thought I would share. It is one of the only restaurants I know of that actually makes it HOT when you ask for hot.

We started with some doubles. Dang, these are good!

Cut and pasted from Wiki:
"Doubles" is a common street food in Trinidad and Tobago. It is a sandwich made with two flat fried "breads", called "bara" filled with curried chick peas or garbanzo beans, commonly called channa (from Urdu/Hindi/Bhojpuri "chanaa"). Topped with a variety of spicy chutneys (mango, cucumber, coconut, tamarind) and extra pepper sauce (ranging from a dash "slight" to much more), this delicacy is undoubtedly the most popular fast food in Trinidad and Tobago. It is usually eaten for breakfast, and sometimes lunch, but can be a late night snack as well.

Then I ordered a Chicken Stew Roti. Roti is an unleavened flat bread. I ordered mine as hot as they could make it.

My friend had Stew Chicken with Dumplings.

I picked up a bottle of sauce too.

Everything was awesome as usual, and I was sweating when we left. :mouthonfire:

I'm all over that Roti MM.

How's that Matouk's? The local try-n-save down the road has that stuff. Been tempted to try it but never have.

Wow MM. Wish we had trini food here, or at least just that sandwich.
It looks like in that first pic, it was almost gone when you remembered to take a pic. LoL
The perfect meal out... "sweating when we left". Hahaha
Thanks for the share!

It's great stuff. They make at least 3 kinds that I know of. This one is the hottest I've tried, but it's not melt your face hot. The first ingredient is aged pickled scotch bonnets, so that is the dominent flavor. It also has mustard in it, which you can pick up a hint of, along with onion and garlic. Good on chicken, pork, or fish. And at $3.49 for a 10oz bottle, it's a steal.
