So comes the end of a fun-filled and fairly productive growing season. The killing frost last night put its stamp of death on just about everything. It looks at though a few pepper plants may have survived so when I pull them up, I'll pick any ripe one.
Pulled up most of the tomato plants and the green beans. The basil gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago and, of course, the potatoes have been DOA since the end of August. I still have about 12-13 feet of them to dig, and horseradish to harvest once we get a real hard frost, but that's about it for the season. Oh, and I need to till the garden and sow wheat on it, then add all the tomato and pepper plants, along with leaves and such to a compost pile.
Once I get this done, I should have a month of close to down time, or at least less activity. Darn the bad luck!
