It's been a while since I started a new seed tray, which I'll be doing this week, so I had a two-part question:
- My initial plan is to put the seed tray I'll be starting this week outside on the balcony. Since the outdoor temperatures are already getting into the upper 70's to low 80's (lows are in the mid to upper 60's for the foreseeable future), do I really need to put the seed tray on a heating mat. The info printed on the heating pad I currently have says it will heat the root area to ~10-20 degrees above ambient air temperature. I definitely don't want to overcook the tray & starter pellets before the seeds have a chance to germinate.
- I had some success my last go 'round using a dash of hydrogen peroxide in the water I'll be using to soak the seeds overnight to aid in germination, but I'm drawing a blank as to the amount to put in. I know it's not much, I think it was a couple teaspoons at most. Feel free and let me know if that sounds about right.
