Ugly Little Spud

I found two of these little Evil Mongers walking the patio this morning like they owned the place. None on my plants though. Both were about 3" long when streched out. This one got all super model pouty on me while I was forcing a pose.

Looks like a dog posing at the show. Do those tails sting?

Nice Ghostbusters referance btw. That would be the feared horn worm. Now sure if they sting but they do bite/pinch.

Looks a bunch like the worms that feasted on our tobacco plants. My little sister loved them - she would collect and feed them.

It is kinda cool.

I found a little caterpillar munching on the red half of a Bhut Jolokia today. Behind him was a trail of small fiery red turds. I gave him to a local mantid that looked kind of hungry.

What do those turn into if they're not killed? I've never seen one up in Northern Cali. Moths?

Nope, that's not a stinger and yes, they turn into moths.
