Uses for Purira Peppers

Ciao all-

Duane's now buried in ripe peppers and I've been very busy making use of them, but I have no idea what to do with this one. What is it traditionally used in and where does it come from originally? What do you all use it in?

I use mine for wonderful red powder. In fact I mix it with my ripe jalapenos now.

Use this in place of storebought cayenne for an amazing difference.

I just dry them out and powder them.

I usually smoke or dry them but they could probably make colourful pickles too

Are Purira ornamental peppers?

YES BUT CONSIDERED very hot. i woudl say ornamental because of the amount of colors it goes through. Jullianna have you guys just popped one ole down yet thats how i would start by deciding what i would do with them. I have not tried this variety yet soo no info from me.

I don't care if they're ornamental as long as the taste good. Do they taste good?

Grow some purira, they are quite picante either fresh or cooked and a very beautiful red when ripe.

I have seen purira in markets occasionally.
